Calling All Volunteers!
Posted on Feb 19, 2010 by JRF
Interested in volunteering with Jeannette Rankin Foundation? Over the next month, JRF will receive hundreds of scholarship applications from low-income women all over the country who are changing their lives through education. The selection process involves three successive levels of review by volunteers. New volunteers who live in the Athens area are invited to participate at Level 1. (With one year of experience, you can begin participating at Level 2, and with three years of experience, you can begin participating at Level 3.)
How Level 1 Works:
Orientation: First, you’ll attend an orientation to learn about the qualities JRF looks for in scholarship candidates. Please choose from one of the following orientation sessions:
Thursday, March 18: 5:30pm – 7pm
Saturday, March 20: 10am – 11am
- please note: Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old, live in the Athens area, and be able to attend one of the two orientation sessions listed above before the application review begins.
Application Review: Next, you’ll be given a set of scholarship applications (approximately 10 – 15) to take home. Another volunteer, who has been assigned as your partner, will be given the same set of applications. After both of you have read the applications, you will discuss them and decide together which applicants will move on to Level 2.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Andrea Anderson at andrea@rankinfoundation.org for more information.
