Limited access to higher education for Hispanic population

An article in USA Today, “87% of Hispanics value higher education, 13% have college degree,” reports on the disparity between the number of people who think higher education is important and those who can actually attend college.

“The poll revealed some of the roadblocks: Latinos do not have enough money, yet many are reluctant to borrow. Family obligations intervene. Parents and teachers provide only lukewarm support.”

Finances and family responsibilities emerged as the top reasons for not continuing to earn a degree. This is indicative of the need for scholarships and support systems for students.
