Donation Security

The Jeannette Rankin Foundation is concerned about the security of your personal information. We are using the most secure processes available for collecting your personal and credit card information. When you enter a page which asks you for personal or credit card information, you'll be accessing a secure Web server. All information sent from that page will be encrypted, making it virtually impossible for anyone to intercept useful data. You can tell that a Web page is secure by looking for two signs:

  1. The URL or address of the page will begin with https rather than the usual http. The added "s" indicates that the page is coming from a secure server.
  2. Depending on the browser and the platform (PC or Mac) that you're using, you'll also see a key or a locked lock in the status bar at the top or bottom of the screen.

We even take our committment to protecting your credit card information a step further. While most sites collect data via an encrypted connection, they then transmit that information via email, which is not a secure medium. JRF will never transmit your credit card information via email. Instead, we store it in a password-protected folder on a secure server and retrieve it via an encrypted connection.
