The Life and Legacy of Jeannette Rankin: Workplace Justice Then and Now

Dr. Bethany Moreton, Women’s Studies and Dept. of History, and Pamela Voekel, Dept. of History, will discuss ongoing efforts for just wages, benefits and working conditions. Topics will include Jeannette Rankin’s advocacy for wage and hour laws, child labor laws, support for unions, particularly for miners in struggles against violent practices of the Anaconda Copper Company in Montana, and present day struggles for “living wages” and benefits for all workers across race, gender and class lines. This is a blue card event. Refreshments will be provided.
