Child and Family Development and Religion
LaTrena of Georgia is making progress toward her degrees in Child and Family Development and Religion. After facing changes in Georgia’s HOPE scholarship requirements that disqualified her, she says, “Had I not been selected as a 2011 JRF Scholar, I would have had to place my pursuit of continuing my education on hold until I was able to secure additional monies.” After graduating with her Bachelor’s degree, LaTrena plans to pursue Masters and Doctorate degrees.
“My goal is to help pull down any barriers facing children growing up in the projects. I had to live with violence all around me, but growing up in the projects taught me many life lessons.”
A first generation college student, LaTrena plans to use her degree to help others rise above their circumstances. “There is nothing or no one that will hold me back from achieving my goals. One day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.”back
