Celebrating Sherrie Ford’s life
Apr 21, 2011 by JRF
We lost a friend recently when Sherrie Ford died tragically at the age of 64. Along with running Power Partners, one of the largest woman-owned businesses, Ford started the Center for Continuous Improvement at Athens Technical College and was a majority owner of a metal design and fabrication company called Gap Partners.
Sherrie changed the dynamics between leaders and the workforce in small manufacturing firms nationwide. Her generosity and community spirit was evident in her support of organizations such as the Red Cross, Relay for Life, United Way and the Jeannette Rankin Foundation.
Sherrie’s family plans to create the Sherrie Ford Endowment Scholarship through JRF to honor and continue the legacy of such a visionary leader, who saw the best in people and worked to help them reach their potential. This fund will create the resources to help women achieve their goals of higher education.
Services for Ford were held today, April 21st, at Emanuel Episcopal Church in Athens. There will be a public memorial/celebration this Saturday April 23, 2011 from noon to 1:30p.m. at The Morton Theater, downtown Athens.
