Three Corn Maidens blanket

JRF is proud to announce that Mary Beth Jiron's Three Corn Maidens painting was chosen by the American Indian College Fund to be made into the 2007 student blanket of the year. Mary Beth was selected amongst students from 22 tribal colleges. She says the design tells the story of the Pueblo people's belief that just as the sun gives life to the corn, the Corn Maidens bring the power of life to the people. As the student blanket of the year, Mary Beth’s design was woven by Pendleton Woolen Mills and unveiled at the Santa Fe Indian Market in August 2007.

Mary Beth has been awarded a JRF scholarship for the past three years and will graduate this spring with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts.

The Three Corn Maidens blanket is available for purchase for $180. The blanket will be retired upon the selection of a winner for the 2008 student blanket of the year.
