Julie Mertes
Having been brought up in a family who struggled with a history of generational addiction and trauma, Julie Mertes found herself on a road that would bring much pain and despair. With 37 years of chaotic misery, she struggled to find a sense of hope and purpose. After receiving help with her problems, Mertes found herself making a change. She obtained her GED and is now pursuing her Bachelors of Arts degree in Child and Family Studies. With desires to become a counselor to help others overcome obstacles like hers, Mertes believes that her education will enable her to go from one who sought help to one who can help others.
