Your Investment

Each gift to Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund is an investment in the future. An important aspect of our program is that each scholar must have clear and attainable goals. Whether she wants to be an elementary school teacher, a nurse, or an accountant, JRF requires that each woman have an understanding of how her education will impact herself, her family and those around her. By investing in her, you are investing in the future of communities nationwide.

How the Money is Used

For every $2,500 scholarship donation, $2,000 is awarded to the scholar. The scholarship is typically disbursed through her financial aid office, but it can also be sent to her landlord for rent or even to her utility company for the electricity bill.

Many of our scholars receive other financial aid to cover their tuition but do not have enough for living expenses while in school. JRF scholars are women who are managing their meager resources well. Our mission is to support them as they work towards their degrees. This means allowing each woman to apply her scholarship support where she needs it most, whether it is for books, housing, transportation or childcare.

The remaining $500 of every scholarship donation is used to help defray the foundation's program costs that occur in providing the scholarships. The primary focus of JRF is to give scholarships to low-income women – a singular focus that means staff time and expenses remain committed to women succeeding through education.
